The Algonquin Academy of Dance opened in 1983 to instruct children and adults in the area of dance.  Today, we are happy to still be part of the community and to continue to share our love of dance.  As our area has grown, the Academy as well has grown with more classes and our competitive dance team.

The studio is a technique based, multi-dance discipline program, taught by professional and friendly instructors. We offer a variety of classes for students ages 18 months to adult. The main focus of the Academy's dance program is the combination class, which always includes ballet and tap. In addition, our younger students have tumbling in their combination class while the older students learn jazz. The Academy strongly believes in the combination class structure because of the well rounded dancers it produces.  Dancers with combination experience are given more opportunities in the dance world and are able to excel more quickly.  In addition to combination dance classes, we offer hip hop, poms, lyrical, modern, contemporary, musical theater, pointe, acrobatics, yoga, and additional technique classes such as Flexibility and Technique, and Turns and Leaps classes. Many of our dancers have continued their dance careers into college and have seen how important multiple styles are.

As our studio has continued to grow, our program has expanded to not only offer a recreational dance program, but a competitive one as well.  The Algonquin Academy is home to the Revolution Dance Company.  A group made up of dancers ages 5 and up, competing in all forms of dance and attending conventions regularly to continue their education. The Company places importance on not only be outstanding dancers, but also natural leaders and exemplar citizens.

We are pleased to be a supporter of the community and be involved in local events.  The Academy has enjoyed the opportunity to share the art of dance with various audiences such as Great America's Dance Fest, local scholarship programs, half time at the Harlem Globetrotters, Walt Disney World, Algonquin Founders Day Parade, Marengo Settlers Day Parade, Lake in the Hills Sunset Parade, and of course our family and friends at our Christmas Show and Annual Recital.

We continue to be thankful for the opportunity to work with such talented and dedicated students and to be part of such a family oriented community. We hope to see you soon!
