The Algonquin Academy of Dance Staff

 A veteran of over twenty years of dance and gymnastics experience, “Miss” Jenny has been teaching since 2000 and started taking classes from the Academy at age 10!  “Miss” Jenny has studied ballet, tap, jazz, tumbling, pointe, hip-hop, modern, and lyrical.  While attending Northern Illinois University to earn her degree, Miss Jenny attended ballet classes through the college and the Fauborg School of Ballet.  In addition to ballet, she continued her gymnastics, tap, and jazz training while in DeKalb, and also studied ballroom and partner dancing in Sterling, Illinois with Julie Dale. Along with our teaching staff, she continues to attend regular dance conventions to further her education.  Miss Jenny has taught all subjects at the studio and also is a licensed Zumba instructor.  “Miss” Jenny is a current and active member of the Dance Educators of America, striving to make sure dancers are properly trained and the love of dance is shared with them. She currently lives in Algonquin with her husband, Matt and four children, Connor, Samantha, Madelyn, and Parker.

Jenny Schlueter

Has been dancing since 1994. She started dancing at Algonquin Academy of Dance in 4th grade, taking tap, jazz, ballet and hip hop classes. Miss Samantha showed her love of dance early on while participating on her middle school pom squad and the Crystal Lake South Gatorettes dance team for four years where she was captain of the JV team her sophomore year, and Co-Captain of the Varsity team her senior year. After high school Miss Samantha attended The University of Iowa where she participated in classes through the University of Iowa Dance Club and the UI college dance program. She also was a member of the Rider Girl dance team for the semi-professional Cedar Rapids Hockey team her senior year.  Her experience with the college and semi-professional dance teams allow her to bring new ideas to all of our classes.  In addition to teaching dance, Miss Samantha earned her degree from the University of Iowa and now works as a High School College and Career coordinator.

Kyla Duewel

Kyla began her dance training at the age of three at a number of dance studios within the Chicago land area. Once in High School, Kyla began training at Lou Conte Dance Studio in Chicago, IL. In 2008, Kyla became a founding member of Moving Barre Dance Theater where they had the honor of placing first in Dance Chicago's annual Dance Jam. Upon moving to Nashville, TN in 2010, Kyla continued her dance education with The School of Nashville Ballet. Kyla is trained in all areas of dance including ballet, tap, jazz, modern and hip hop. She is passionate about generating a fostering and fun environment for her dancers to learn and create. She is excited to be a part of the AADM staff.

Carol Eicherl

Carol has been dancing with the Algonquin Academy of Dance for 14 years, “Miss” Carol has been a member of the Advanced Adult Class and Adult Hip hop. She works with children as a Licensed Home Daycare provider. She also is a former preschool teacher at Sonshine Christian Preschool. With so much experience with children, it was a natural move for Miss Carol to begin teaching preschool dance classes at the studio.  Miss Carol has two daughters, Danielle and Hannah that have been dancing at the Academy since 1995.  Her daughter Hannah graduated in 2015 and received a dance scholarship to Dean College in Massachusetts.  Miss Carol is excited to be sharing her love of dance and watching her students grow.

Hannah Eicherl

 Justine started dancing at the age of 2 and has over 20 years of dance experience. In 2009 she started dancing in our adult hip-hop class after her daughter enrolled in her first dance class with AADM. Justine's favorite dance styles are tap and hip-hop. She currently teaches our preschool daytime classes and is a CSR one night a week.

Whitney is a former AAD dancer and graduated from Crystal Lake South High School in 2008. She then graduated from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater in 2012 as an English Education major and a dance minor.  During her time at Whitewater, she studied mainly contemporary dance and participated in the dance department’s formal concerts annually. She also was able to attend and performed at the American College Dance Festival for three years. She is currently our competitive Hip Hop and Pom teacher.  Her teaching continues to challenge her students. Her favorite dance styles are hip-hop, contemporary and jazz.

Danielle Harlfinger

Trish grew up in McHenry where she danced for ten years. She attended classes at Mar Ray Studio in McHenry and probably ran into “Miss” Mary, the Academy’s previous owner!  After finishing college and starting her family, she rediscovered her love for dance when she started taking classes at the Algonquin Academy in 2007 along with her two daughters. She has been an assistant since 2011, and now is a teacher to our Hip Hop classes and our mini teams!  Her enthusiasm and style of teaching dance have allowed her dancers to excel and develop their own love of dance. In addition to dancing, Miss Trish graduated from University of Illinois with a Bachelor's Degree in Education and from Saint Xavier University with a Master's Degree in Teaching and Leadership. She is an eighth grade math teacher at McHenry Middle School.

Began dancing at the age of three. At the age of 14, she joined a semi-professional company and began performing all over the country and studied with renowned teachers/choreographers such as Joel Hall, Rosemary Doolas, Kelly Hayes, Richard Smith, and Ellen Werksman. Chrissy’s dancing career also lead her to New York for a year where she furthered her dance studies. She has been seen in off-Broadway productions such as West Side Story, Grease, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Chrissy has also toured the country teaching at workshops and other studios, and has choreographed musicals and shows for local schools and production companies.  Miss Chrissy’s experience allows her to teach a wide variety of classes.  In addition to combination classes, Miss Chrissy teaches our musical theatre, lyrical, pointe, and acrobatics classes.  She is also the Teen and Senior Team teacher.  Miss Chrissy has just joined the motherhood club with the arrival of her first child, Chelsea.

Kari Paoli

Began her dance career in Ohio. “Miss” Kari has danced for twenty-four years, (twenty-two with the Academy), was an assistant teacher for seven years, and continues as a teacher for her sixteenth year. With her sense of music, strong technique, quick ability to learn new skills, and wonderful stage presence, “Miss” Kari has delighted audiences at Academy events for years. “Miss” Kari loves all forms of dance and is especially adept at choreography. “Miss” Kari’s experience in Poms and dance teams allowed her to help create and develop the Academy’s pom program.  She currently resides in Poplar Grove with her husband Joe and their daughter, Isabelle.

Is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Certified Yoga Instructor. She completed her yoga instruction through LifePower Yoga and is excited to offer a combination of therapeutic insights with yoga breath and movement. She is excited to help dancers and non-dancers improve their flexibility and reduce stress and anxiety. Miss Laura creates a relaxing, stress free environment and invites all of our parents to come and try yoga!  She has been a part of the Algonquin Academy of Dance since 2002 as a dancer and a customer service representative, and has now joined the teaching staff.
