The Algonquin Academy of Dance Staff

A veteran of over twenty-five years of dance and gymnastics experience, Miss Jenny has been teaching since 2000 and started taking classes from the Academy at age 10! Miss Jenny has studied ballet, tap, jazz, tumbling, pointe, hip-hop, modern, and lyrical. While attending Northern Illinois University to earn her degree, Miss Jenny attended ballet classes through the college and the Fauborg School of Ballet.  In addition to ballet, she continued her gymnastics, tap, and jazz training while in DeKalb, and also studied ballroom and partner dancing in Sterling, Illinois with Julie Dale. Along with our teaching staff, Miss Jenny continues to attend regular dance conventions to further her education.  Miss Jenny has taught all subjects at the studio and is also a licensed Zumba instructor. Miss Jenny is a current and active member of the Dance Educators of America, striving to make sure dancers are properly trained and the love of dance is shared with them. She currently lives in Algonquin with her four children, Connor, Samantha, Madelyn, and Parker.

Miss Kyla began her dance training at the age of 3 at a number of dance studios within the Chicagoland area. Once in High School, Miss Kyla began training at Lou Conte Dance Studio in Chicago, IL. In 2008, Miss Kyla became a founding member of Moving Barre Dance Theater where they had the honor of placing first in Dance Chicago's annual Dance Jam. Upon moving to Nashville, TN in 2010, Miss Kyla continued her dance education with The School of Nashville Ballet. Miss Kyla is trained in all areas of dance including ballet, tap, jazz, modern and hip hop. She is passionate about generating a fostering and fun environment for her dancers to learn and create. She is excited to be a part of the AADM staff.

Carol Eicherl

Miss Carol has been dancing with the Algonquin Academy of Dance for many years, She is currently a student in the Adult Combo Class and Adult Hip hop class. Miss Carol works with children as a Licensed Home Daycare provider. She is also a former preschool teacher at Sonshine Christian Preschool. Having so much experience with children, it was a natural move for Miss Carol to begin teaching preschool dance classes at the studio.  Miss Carol has two daughters, Danielle and Hannah, that started dancing at the Academy in 1995.  Her daughter, Hannah, graduated in 2015 and received a dance scholarship to Dean College in Massachusetts. After getting her degree, Hannah now teaches at our studio and is also a dancer for a dance company in Chicago. Miss Carol is excited to be sharing her love of dance and continues watching her students grow.

Miss Hannah began dancing at the age of 3 at the Algonquin Academy of Dance where she danced both competitively and recreationally until she graduated high school in 2015. Upon graduating, Miss Hannah continued her education, majoring in Dance, with a concentration in performance and choreography, at Dean College in Franklin, Massachusetts. She also pursued a minor in Business Administration. Miss Hannah received her Bachelor of Arts in Dance in May 2019. Miss Hannah is trained in a variety of styles, consisting of ballet, tap, jazz, modern, contemporary, hip hop and basic ballroom techniques. While attending Dean College, Miss Hannah studied under a renowned faculty that included Jill Silverman, Todd Shanks, Lindsey Klein, Jeremy Ruth Howes, and Kristina Berger. Miss Hannah had the opportunity to perform in the 2017 NFL Kickoff Pregame show at Gillette Stadium and has presented works choreographed by William “Bill” Evans, Levi Marsman, and James Morrow. Miss Hannah currently dances with the INASIDE Dance Chicago dance company. She looks forward to sharing her passion and knowledge with her students.

Whitney Geallis

Miss Whitney has been dancing since the age of 3 and is an Algonquin Academy of Dance alum who graduated from Crystal Lake South High School in 2008. She then attended the University of Wisconsin Whitewater and graduated in 2012 with a degree in English Education and Dance. Miss Whitney served on the UWW Dance Company board and also was able to perform at the American College Dance Festival all four years of college. While student teaching she had the opportunity to coach and choreograph for the dance team at Badger High School in Lake Geneva, WI. Upon graduation Miss Whitney returned to our studio and has been able to choreograph and teach the members of the Algonquin Academy’s dance company. Miss Whitney's favorite styles are jazz and hip hop. She hopes to share her love of dance with her students and other studio members.

Miss Justine is one of our CSRs and teaches our preschool classes during the day. Miss Justine started dancing at the age of 2 and danced most of her youth at Dorothy's Dancing Unlimited in Schaumburg, IL. After graduating high school Miss Justine continued to take recreational dance classes. Miss Justine has over 25 years of dance experience. In 2009 she started dancing at the studio in our adult hip-hop classes while her daughter enrolled in her first dance class with AADM. Miss Justine's favorite dance styles are tap and hip-hop. When Miss Justine isn't at the studio she enjoys reading, watching her son play basketball, and watching her daughter dance, cheer and tumble.

Trish Hoglund

Miss Trish grew up in McHenry where she danced for ten years. She attended classes at Mar Ray Studio in McHenry and probably ran into Miss Mary, the Algonquin Academy of Dance’s previous owner!  After finishing college and starting her family, Miss Trish rediscovered her love for dance when she started taking classes at our studio in 2007 along with her two daughters. Miss Trish became an assistant with us in 2011, and now she teaches our Hip Hop classes and our mini teams!  Her enthusiasm and style of teaching dance have allowed her dancers to excel and develop their own love of dance. In addition to dancing, Miss Trish graduated from University of Illinois with a Bachelor's Degree in Education and from Saint Xavier University with a Master's Degree in Teaching and Leadership. Miss Trish is an eighth grade math teacher at McHenry Middle School.

Miss Nicole has danced since she was three years old at our studio. She took a couple years off to try gymnastics but quickly came crawling back! Miss Nicole danced at our studio until she was a senior in high school and then came back to teach after college. Miss Nicole had the amazing opportunity to dance with the studio at Disney World in 2014! She's still friends with many dancers and former teachers from this wonderful studio! Miss Nicole was also on the high school dance team at Dundee-Crown High School and held team captain for three out of four years. In college, Miss Nicole was a part of many dance competitions to raise money for the Make-A-Wish foundation. Miss Nicole is now a 5th grade teacher in Hoffman Estates and tries to get her students dancing all the time!

Samantha McKenna

Miss Samantha has been dancing since 1994. She started dancing at the Algonquin Academy of Dance in 4th grade, taking tap, jazz, ballet and hip hop classes. Miss Samantha showed her love of dance early on. She participated on her middle school pom squad. She was also on the Crystal Lake South Gatorettes dance team for four years. She was captain of the JV team her sophomore year, and Co-Captain of the Varsity team her senior year. After high school Miss Samantha attended The University of Iowa where she participated in classes through the University of Iowa Dance Club and the UI college dance program. She also was a member of the Rider Girl dance team for the semi-professional Cedar Rapids hockey team her senior year.  Her experience with the college and semi-professional dance teams allow her to bring new ideas to all of our classes.  In addition to teaching dance, Miss Samantha earned her degree from the University of Iowa and now works as a High School College and Career coordinator.

Miss Lanie has been dancing since the age of 2 and danced competitively since 4th grade at Dance Force Studios until 2017. Before the age of 14 she had won over 20 National Championships and 1 World Championship in 2016 with hip hop. In 2017 she made the Boom Box Co. pre professional hip hop dance team at Lou Conte Dance Studio in Chicago. Lanie recently just graduated from Huntley High School and was on the varsity dance team her sophomore through senior year. She is currently going to MCC and is going to tryout to be a Chicago Luvabull this year! Her favorite styles of dance are hip hop and pom and hopes to share her passion of dance with her students this year!

Miss Cathy is one of our amazing CSRs at the studio. She has been working at the studio for 8 years now! Her family has been with the studio for 18 years though! Her 2 daughters both danced at our studio. Her youngest daughter still dances here and does both recreational classes and is on our dance team. One of her son's used to take music lessons here when it was offered... including voice and piano. Miss Cathy even took dance classes here herself for 3 years-our Adult Combo class! Her favorite style of dance is tap. Miss Cathy loves being part of this wonderful dance family!!!

Miss Kari began her dance career in Ohio. Miss Kari has danced for over 25 years. She started as an assistant teacher at our studio and then quickly became a teacher. She has taught dance at the studio for 20 years. With her sense of music, strong technique, quick ability to learn new skills, and wonderful stage presence, Miss Kari has delighted audiences at Academy events for years. Miss Kari loves all forms of dance and is especially adept at choreography. Miss Kari’s experience in Poms and dance team allowed her to help create and develop the Algonquin Academy’s pom program.  She currently resides in Poplar Grove with her husband Joe and their two children.

Miss Madilyn started dancing when she was two years old. She left it for a little bit and returned when she was in sixth grade. Miss Madilyn is now a senior in high school and has been dancing for about seven years at the studio. She has been on the Revolution Dance company team for six years. She started assisting with classes three years ago and this year will be teaching a few classes. She is very excited for this new dance season. She can not wait to meet her students. LET'S HAVE SOME FUN!!

Miss Eileen is one of our CSRs. She has been working at the studio for over 5 years now. She is a bus driver for school district 158 and is also a licensed real estate agent. Miss Eileen has been married to her high school sweetheart since 1994 and has 2 children. Her daughter dances at the studio and is on the dance team. She is always willing to help with any questions or concerns. If she doesn’t know the answer, she will find someone who does.

Haley started dancing in 2nd grade, doing Poms at the Park District. She has been dancing at Algonquin Academy of Dance for 6 years. Assisting for 2 years, she is now teaching beginner Poms and Hip Hop. She is a junior at Huntley High School and is a member of our competitive dance team. In addition to dancing, she is involved in National Honors Society and the HHS Girls Golf Team. Her favorite styles of dance are Poms, Tap, and Modern. She is so excited to share her love and passion for dance with her students!

Miss Laura is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and Certified Yoga Instructor. She completed her yoga instruction through LifePower Yoga and is excited to offer a combination of therapeutic insights with yoga breath and movement. Miss Laura is excited to help dancers and non-dancers improve their flexibility and reduce stress and anxiety. Miss Laura creates a relaxing, stress free environment and invites all of our parents to come and try yoga!  She has been a part of the Algonquin Academy of Dance since 2002 as a dancer and a customer service representative, and has now joined the teaching staff.
